Formal vs. Informal Education

I'm not saying you shouldn't have formal education, but I do think that informal information has much more value for the individual, except if the line of work that you are trying to do requires formal one.
At least for me, I see informal education as something that we are passionate about and something that we weren't "forced" to do, instead we learned in our free time. And I'm a strong believer that we will do better job at things that we are passionate about.
Would love to hear your opinion on that.
