Playing a villain in a movie is a great career move for an actor, but playing a real-life, universally reviled monster like Adolf Hitler is not necessarily a decision that's made lightly.
Even in the history of countless movie Nazis, having the guts to actually play Hitler is something else entirely.
One of my favorites is Noah Taylor in Preacher and Robert Carlyle in Hitler: The Rise of Evil.
But none of them is German or Austrian (Hitler was born in Austria). And I think that there is a simple explanation for this; German/Austrian acting schools can't compare to British or Australian.
